Wiltshire is extraordinarily rich in the ritual monuments of early man. The mystical and awe-inspiring stone circle at Stonehenge, set in Wiltshire, is one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in the world and has created endless speculation for scientists concerned with interpretation. The building of Stonehenge began about 5,000 years ago, but was altered several times in the following 1,500 years; visitors to Stonehenge can discover the history and legends which surround the circle with a complimentary three-part audio tour. It gives general information concerning the stones.
